Turning 12-year-old is a big moment for Malaysians as that’s the age we all apply for and receive our MyKad (NRIC).
For those who have already received their ICs, you’ll know all about the excitement of walking into the closest Jabatan Pendaftaran Negara (JPN), filling in the necessary forms, and waiting in line to become the owner of a new IC of your own.
Though this may have been a bit of a tedious process, the end result was definitely worth it but unfortunately for those turning 12 amidst the pandemic, the experience cannot be the same.

To adapt to the current climate, JPN has now taken the process of applying for your MyKad online.
With the help of your parents or guardians, 12-year-olds are encouraged to apply for their IC online.
Applications for the MyKad can be made by scanning the QR code provided by JPN or by visiting web12tahun.gov.my to do so.
Before visiting the website, you must first need to register for an account on https://www.malaysia.gov.my/portal/register.
Be sure to have your birth certificate, proof of address and documents for your sponsor (a.k.a. your parents or guardian) before you start your application process too!
You can find out more about how to get your MyKad for 12-year-olds here.
Share this with anyone who’s turning 12!
