You might be among the people that regularly get your haircut and are feeling frustrated because your hair is growing longer than usual. But no matter how frustrating it is, don’t sneak out for a haircut because you’ll be arrested!

Thirteen men have been arrested at a barbershop in Jalan Mengkuang, Butterworth after they secretly try to get a haircut.

The team of police that acted from a tip-off from the public arrested the suspects that breached the Movement Control Order at the barber shop that was secretly operating.

"Acting from a tip-off from the public, a team of police from the North Seberang Prai police headquarters raided the shop," Seberang Prai Utara OCPD Asst Comm Noorzainy Mohd Noor said in a statement.

Three out of the thirteen arrested includes two hairdressers and the barbershop owner and ten other men were customers that entered the premise waiting for their turn to get a haircut.

Another 20 people besides the 13 were also arrested for breaching the Movement Control Order.

They are all being investigated under Regulation 6 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Disease Regulations 2020, Section 342 and Section 269 of the Penal Code.

While the government had previously announced that barbershops are allowed to be opened during the MCO, it was later withdrawn and barbers and hair salons are not allowed to operate during the MCO.

“We have to continue with what we are doing to tighten security and ensure everyone complies with the MCO,” Noorzainy said.

Guess it’s time for a DIY haircut at home because it’s better to not have a fresh cut and being arrested!
