Five months ago, Hitz announced our decision to play Malaysians on Malaysia’s #1 hit radio.
Today we’re proud to see a 12% increase of local representation on our playlists on air. From TikTok stars to bedroom DJs, the talent spotlighted has been incredibly diverse and phenomenal -- a testament to how Malaysians truly boleh, even when bench-marked against international artists.
To highlight these local talents even further, HITZ also introduced multiple digital features, interview segments and music specials including the ‘Fresh Hit Friday’ which plays new local and international music as soon as they are released, ‘Hitz Sessions’ providing an acoustic version of the hit local song, ‘Behind The Hit’ which gives fans an explanation and story behind a local song, and ‘Soundtrack of My Life’ where local artistes takeover HITZ for an hour, curating and playing their choice of songs that have inspired them. Hitz is truly committed to living up to our promise, across all platforms, to support the Malaysian music industry.
Our rotating panel of music industry experts that curate the submitted tracks have had their work cut out for them with the many submissions, but they remain steadfast in selecting the best Malaysian hits to be added for airplay. Regardless of experience or equipment, songs continue to be chosen fairly and without bias.
Previously, Malaysian English hits used to be on air for just 1 hour on a Sunday.
Now, they play on air every day, every hour.
