41yo Who Gets Monthly Allowance, Is Suing His Parents For Life-Long Financial Support

We’re lucky if we get birthday money…

If you’re someone who has had to pay for all your bills and lifestyle wants and needs, you’d definitely miss the simple days where you received an allowance from your parents.

A 41-year-old man however has been receiving monthly allowances from his parents but he’s now suing them for life-long financial support.

Faiz Siddiqui has been “completely dependent” on his wealthy parents for the past 20 years.

Despite being a trained lawyer with a degree from Oxford University, the jobless man’s parents - who are based in Dubai, have let him live rent-free in a £1 million (RM5.7 million) flat they own near London’s Hyde Park.

His parents have even being covering his bills and other outgoings.

That’s not all. Besides living a cost-free life, Faiz’s mum Rashanda and dad Javed give him an allowance of more than £400 (RM2,293) a week!

Faiz’s privileges however were cut short after the family had a dispute. His parents wanted to stop financially supporting their son who has been jobless since 2011.

The 41-year-old then decided to take his parent to court in a first-of-its-kind case, which could affect the rights of every UK parent.

Faiz is suing his parents and arguing that they should provide life-long financial support for him.

The out-of-work Oxford graduate claims that he is “entirely dependent on his wealthy parents” and therefore his lawyer argued that he is entitled to claim maintenance from them as a “vulnerable” grown-up child due to his health issues.

He is also arguing that denying him financial support would be a violation of his human rights.

Faiz’s parents however are fighting back.

According to their lawyer Justin Warshaw QC, “These long-suffering parents have their own view of what is suitable provision for their ‘difficult, demanding and pertinacious’ son.”

The case to claim maintenance from his parents was rejected by a top family court judge and has now been sent to the Court of Appeal.

This is not the first time Faiz is taking legal action.

In 2018, he sued Oxford University for £1 million (RM5.7 million) and claimed that “inadequate teaching” had led to his 2:1 degree that cost him an entry to a leading US law college.

The case was rejected.

Ngl, we’re still a little shocked by this case.

The only time we get money from our parents is during birthdays or celebrations, and that’s if we’re lucky!

Do you think Faiz is right to sue his parents for life-long financial support? Let us know!
