You finally got call from your dream company to come in for an interview.

Once you’ve daydreamed about your new career, it’s prep time. You’ve read all the tips you need to impress your interviewees: what to say, what to ask, and the right attitude to present yourself.

While those are important things, there are certain smaller details that you should pay attention to. You’re not the only one aiming for job, so you need to give your potential employer the best first impression that will set you apart from your competitors.

Here are a few things to remember:

#1 You need to look energised for the interview

You may know all the right things to say, but no one wants an employee who looks uninterested about coming to work!

Our advice: Start the habit of exercising and taking vitamins.

#2 Nobody wants to smell your body odour

How awkward would it be if you enter the room and your future employer scrunches up their nose when they smell your sweat?

Our advice: Use a perfume or opt for a deodorant stick.

#3 Make sure your hands are clean—and not sticky!

It’s normal to feel nervous at an interview, but if your hands sweat easily from your nerves, then you should definitely NOT forget to bring some tissues to wipe them away.

Our advice: Bring along a small pack of tissues or wet wipes.

#4 Have a back up plan if you accidentally stain your clothes

You’re enjoying some breakfast before your interview at a mamak… and suddenly you spill some kuah roti canai on your t-shirt! Oh no!

Our advice: Use a laundry stick to get rid of minor stains.

#5 There is such a thing as too much facial hair

If you’ve been trimming your facial hair and keeping it neat—great! But if you haven’t, then it’s time to shave that unkempt beard and moustache. Present your best self to your interviewer, not the version of you that prefers lazing around in your room playing computer games.

Our advice: Get rid of that mane! Time to restock your supply of shavers and shaving cream.

So now that you’ve officially got everything covered, you’re ready to slay your interview!
