6 cheats to help you get healthy if exercising isn’t your thing

Is this your response to friends who try to get you to go to the gym or hike with them?

And are they always telling you that you lead an unhealthy lifestyle?

Okay, we know they have good intentions. But if having a routine for exercising isn’t really your thing, then we suggest these little pro-health changes you can start making instead:

#1 Make sure you’re getting good sleep

It’s important to get seven to nine hours of sleep every night so that you can be productive at work. Your body will release hormones and compounds that decreases risk for health problems, regulate your hunger levels and even retain your memory!

#2 Stop stuffing yourself with all that junk food!

We know you love your burgers and pizzas, but you’ve gotta cut all of that down! Put more greens and fruits on your plate. We know it sounds impossible—but you should try to lessen your rice intake as it increases your risk to get diabetes. White rice is delicious, sure, but it also ranks high on the glycaemic index. This means that it can cause a sudden spike in blood sugar levels.

#3 Keep yourself hydrated

Drink at last eight glasses of water daily, as you need to flush out toxins and increase your energy levels. You could be using the most expensive skincare products—but your complexion would still be bad if it’s not getting enough water.

#4 Don’t like hiking? Then take the stairs

Ditch the escalator/lift and take the stairs instead. It may seem like a minimal thing to do but climbing steps improves the strength of our bones and muscles while protecting us from high blood pressure and clogged arteries.

#5 De-stress yourself

Stress is linked to many health problems—cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, depression, and gastrointestinal issues. There are many factors that lead to stress, including overworking and not getting enough sleep. So, it’s important to know how to cope with it, whether you’re into meditation or even window shopping.

#6 Don’t just sit—remember to stretch

A lot of us likely have desk jobs or spend a lot of time studying for classes. This means that we do a lot of sitting. Take around 10 to 15 minutes to walk around and stretch your limbs. Your back and shoulders will thank you in the future.

Here’s what else you can do to without having to drag yourself to the gym or climb a mountain
