6 Productive Things To Do Over Your Semester Break

Because staying in every day is boring.

University students can get busy during their semester, bound by coursework, quizzes, group discussions and exams. Some students work really, really hard so when the semester is over, all they want to do is just chill and get into a lazy mode.

**Yawn. Stretches the body**

While you might find it easy to let that holiday mode sink in and sit around the house doing nothing, it will eventually get boring after a few days. But don’t worry, we’ve got it all planned out for you:

#1 Do a KL food tour by hopping on the Sungai Buloh-Kajang MRT

Everyone went goo-goo ga-ga with the recent opening of the 51km MRT line connecting 31 stations from Sungai Buloh to Kajang.

Take advantage of this convenience and head over to Kota Dame (formerly known as Uptown Kota Damansara), a thriving food enclave and night market, which is located just a stone’s throw away from MRT Kota Damansara station and also SEGi University!

You can also hop on the new MRT to Muzium Negara for some deep fried goodies at Brickfields Pisang Goreng (right outside One Sentral Restaurant), Chinese-style Nasi Lemak Peele Road (at Cochrane station); and of course, the biggest pasar malam near Taman Connaught station!

#2 Binge-watch Game of Thrones

Game of Thrones (GoT) is currently the most talked about US show on TV, and we Malaysians are in on the hype—we’re crazy about it!

As the seventh season just kicked into gear, challenge yourself to undertake a binge-watching session of the entire six seasons!

Hello, binge-watch ah not binge eat!

#3 Volunteer as a student helper

How would you like to earn extra pocket money and gain working experience while studying? We have the perfect solution for you.

Volunteer as a student helper at SEGi University.  The university needs you in many aspects. For registration, drop by at Student Affairs Division at SEGi University, Level 2, Ring Wing.

SEGi pays you for the hours you work!

That’s one of their tasks for student helpers—dance to keep the new students entertained. Okay, we’re just kidding!

#4 Immerse yourself in games

Escape into the virtual world before the semester resumes. Have a go at a round (or more) of shootin' in Counterstrike: Global Offensive. If guns are not your thing, try hurling fireballs in classic MOBAs such as League of Legends or Dota 2.

Or you can channel your inner Ash and launch your career as a Pokémon master by catching and training those elusive Pokémon with your mobile device.

Gotta catch em' all before the next semester begins.

#5 Free karaoke session

Do you love singing? Do you think your voice is as sweet as honey?

Explore the collection of hits at Surge SEGi, Malaysia’s first online university radio. Its specially curated playlists feature a variety of songs ranging from iconic summer chart toppers to classics. Tune in and karaoke all you want!

Click here to check out the playlists or search for Surge SEGi on RAKU on mobile and desktop.

#6 Sleep

Aaah, this is probably the best (and most productive) thing to do during your semester break.

Well, if you need some music with a slower tempo to fall asleep, check out our playlist, “New Beginnings”, on Surge SEGi.

SEGi is the first Malaysian university to be awarded 5 stars for prioritising the needs of Malaysian society.

They know what’s best for you.

Join them for an awesome possum SEGi experience. It’ll be one that’ll help you get started to a great future with the career of your dreams.
