Like something off a dystopian movie, a company is now selling bottled air.

And it’s not cheap.

A company in the UK is causing many heads to turn with their glass bottles filled with the “freshest coastal air” that’s selling for up to $105 (RM432) per bottle.

With pollution what it is these days, Coast Capture Air decided to bottle fresh air and sell it as a souvenir and a talking point about the importance of clean air in this modern era.

People from polluted areas of the world however have reportedly started buying these bottles for more practical purposes – to inhale clean coastal air every day.

With the demand, the company were able to sell the glass bottles, even at RM432 for a 700ml bottle!

“Each Coast Capture Air signature glass bottle holds fresh coastal air in its purest form, direct from the natural and unspoiled coast lines of Great Britain,” the company’s website reads.

“Our select Air capturing locations are typically rural, unpolluted by man or machinery and often remote and hard to reach,” it continued. “Such idylls are rare. Our Collections are therefore of precious and exceptional quality. Bottled at source: Hartland Point, Cornish Coast, Great Britain.”

“We travel the length and breadth of Great Britain,” the website continued. “We visit remote locations of outstanding natural beauty. From here we capture only the cleanest air.”

“Many factors set us apart from similar companies. We monitor and measure every single bottle we capture. We use highly sensitive equipment to ensure the purity of each bottle. Our captures are therefore both unique and of the very highest quality.”

Coast Capture Air is not the only company in the world that sells fresh air. Other companies like Vitality Air sells canned fresh air from the Canadian Rocky Mountains and Air de Montcuq sell air from the French countryside.

What sets the company apart of course, is its hefty price of RM432 which makes it’s the second most expensive bottled air so far.

The most expensive bottled air belongs to Genuine Mountain Air from Switzerland that sells Swiss mountain air collected from a secret location in the Alps for $167 (RM687) per bottle.

The Coast Capture Air website even has a section that details the best way to inhale its fresh coastal air.

According to the website, you should find a nice, quiet place and clear your nasal cavity by blowing your nose and breathing from the diaphragm, not your chest. Once you’ve taken a deep breath of the fresh air, you have to put the cork back on to keep the contents from escaping.

We’re glad to be from a country where there is still fresh air to breathe in. We know we’d definitely have to save up for a while just to afford a RM432 bottle of air.

Would you purchase this bottled air if you could afford it? Let us know!
