After season eight of GoT left fans feeling disappointed, we’ve only had the prequels to look forward to to lift up our spirits. With the first prequel’s pilot episode just wrapping up, news of a second prequel has turned the heads of many GoT fans.
According to a report from Deadline, HBO is close to giving the green light to a Targaryen-centric prequel!
Multiple sources have learnt that the House Targaryen focused series is nearing a pilot order but HBO has declined to comment on the new prequel.
Deadline reports that the prequel would be set 300 years before the final battle for the Iron Throne and would focus on the rise and fall of House Targaryen.
So you know what that means. DRAGONS!!

The new series has reportedly been in the works at HBO since mid-last year and will be based on George RR Martin’s Fire & Blood.
The author previously revealed that there are a total of five new Game of Thrones prequels in the works and hinted at the possibility of a Targaryen-centric series.
“We have had five different Game of Thrones successor shows in development at HBO,” he wrote. “And three of them are still moving forward nicely.”
“Two other shows remain in the script stage, but are edging closer,” he continued. “What are they about? I cannot say. But maybe some of you should pick up a copy of Fire & Blood and come up with your own theories.”

To add to the excitement, Fire & Blood was originally published with the tagline, “300 Years Before a Game of Thrones, Dragons Ruled Westeros.”
