Annular eclipses occur when the Moon – that’s passing between Earth and the Sun; is not quite close enough to the planet to completely obscure sunlight, leaving a thin ring of the solar disc visible.
The annular solar eclipse usually takes place every year or two, and can only be seen from a narrow pathway across the planet.
Stargazer from west Africa to the Arabian Peninsula, India and the Far East were able to witness the dramatic “ring of fire” solar eclipse that took place between 2:50pm and 4:50pm (Malaysian time) and the results were absolutely stunning!
Those who were lucky enough to witness this amazing event have been sharing their pictures across social media for those of you who may have missed it in person!
We’re definitely in awe of this amazing phenomenon!
