Abang Bomba Help To Save Woman’s 40 Cats During Flood

The recent floods has seen thousands of victims displaced from their homes. Over the past days, bomba and volunteers alike have been helping the flood victims to evacuations centers.

But humans aren’t the only ones that the firefighters have been saving, they’ve been helping to save our furry favourites too!

And in this case, they helped to rescue a woman’s 40 cats from the flood waters.

Norhidayah Kamarudin was in a predicament when the flood waters in Kampung Kenor, Kelantan, started rise to around 0.5 meters. She

The 31-year-old woman was worried that she would not be able to save her 40 cats as the water continued to rise, so she called the bomba to help her out at around 10.30am.

“I managed to bring all 40 of my cats to to the temporary evacuation center (PPS) until the flood receeded,” Norhidayah said.

“Before this, I only had five cats and then, I was able to transfer all five to the PPS with the help of my family members because there weren’t as many of them,” she said.  “This time however, I needed to ask the fire department for help to transfer all 40 of them.”

According Norhidayah, all the cats in her care are rescue cats that had been injured and abandoned and needed treatment as well as intensive care.

“After the 2014 flood, I found many street cats that were starving and sick,” she said. “I took them home to be treated.”

“Over time, my desire to rescue cats continued to grow,” she continued. “To me, as long as they are still breathing, I will try to save them.”

“I consider these streets cats that I look after as my own children,” she added.

Kuala Krai Rescue and Fire Department chief Muhammad Rizwab Ar-Rafee Parsimin said that his men went through 500 meters of water to save the 40 cats.
