Rumour has it that there’s an X-Men reboot on the way and this time, they’ll be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU)!

Since Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: Far From Home brought the MCU’s phase three to an end, there have been many plans to expand the universe in the best way.
According to recent reports, Marvel Studios is now currently working to bring the X-Men into the MCU but this time they’ll be calling the reboot The Mutants.

The Illuminerdi reported that work on The Mutants is underway at Marvel Studios with Kevin Feige producing.
More information about the upcoming project is tightly under wraps and so far, no plot details, writers, directors, or cast members have been revealed.
For now, all we know is that the project will be called The Mutants however that too could change as development continues.
This is not the first time we’ve heard about the X-Men being included in the MCU, but it is the first time we’re hearing that the superheroes will be called The Mutants instead so as to be inclusive to all the members of the team.
Back in 2019, Marvel Studios EVP of Production, Victoria Alonso shared that she felt the X-Men name was outdated as the team also consists of many female members.
At the 2019 San Diego Comic-Con, Kevin Feige announced that the studio is working on bringing “mutants” to the MCU but he did not mention the X-Men specifically.
The title of The Mutants could also indicate that instead of focusing on just the X-Men, the upcoming reboot could be focusing on mutants in general.

According to the rumours, the upcoming project is being developed as a feature film and is intended to be a total reboot of the X-Men franchise which first kicked with 2000’s X-Men and most recently featured 2020’s The New Mutants.
We’re excited to hear more about The Mutants and what other plans Marvel has to expand the MCU. Hopefully we’ll get more information soon!
