According to The Sun, Emir Haady Imran Zulkharnain is set to be the youngest student attending the Royal College of Surgeons (RCSI) in Dublin when the academic year begins in September.

Two years prior, at just 14, Emir completed the UK International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) examination at the STARS International Academy in Kelana Jaya with flying colours.

Emir managed to score 6A+ in International Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Bahasa Melayu and Mathematics; an A1 in Additional Mathematics and a B1 for English.

The youngest of four siblings, Emir completed his A-levels at 15-years-old and managed to achieve an A each in Chemistry and Maths, as well as an A+ in Physics.

Speaking to The Sun, Emir noted that he doesn’t see himself being anything other than a doctor in life.

His passion to study medicine comes from a mix of family influence and a deep love for the field.

“It’s a combination of both,” Emir said. “I initially wanted to become an astronaut, but as I grew older, at 11, I started to like medicine a lot. My father is doing just that. He works very hard and loves what he does. And I would like to emulate him.”

According to the 16-year-old, the realization that he wanted to become a surgeon sparked when he and his parents volunteered at the Kelana Jaya mosque to offer free consultation to the public.

Observing how people went through different hardships and challenges in life ignited his passion to pursue a career as a surgeon.

“The hearts just fascinates me – how it works,” Emir said. “And I just want to do what I love which is to become a heart surgeon.”

We’re super proud of Emir’s accomplishments and this really proves that working hard to achieve your life goal is actually possible, especially if you have the passion for it! Congratulations Emir!
