We’ve heard this story before. A girlfriend or a boyfriend easily getting jealous when someone they deem to be better looking comes across their way.

For this couple, that situation is all too real and it involves a cute hawker.

Walter Tay left his job as an air steward on Singapore Airlines a couple of years ago and he’s now known as Singapore’s “Hunky Hawker.”

After spending a few years doing various jobs that unfortunately failed, Walter returned to help out his parents at their hawker stall that sells carrot cake and char kway teow.

Since then, he’s been gaining a lot of attention as the hunky hawker.

When asked what his most interesting experience was since helping out his parents, Walter couldn’t help but to share about this couple.

According to the hunky hawker, a female customer told him that she could not eat at his stall because her boyfriend didn’t allow her to do so because Walter was too good looking.

[LIKE this to pledge your support for #OurHawkerCulture!] . I often say that my hawker life started in 2015, when I left my previous job and started selling carrot cake with my dad. He wanted a more traditional name for the stall, but he let me name it Father & Son. It’s all in the family, so some days you get a mixture like this day - Mother & Son! . I think my hawker life started when I was young, because my parents started selling hawker food for 20 over years already. Growing up, I watched them pour their hearts into perfecting their fried carrot cake, char kway teow. So when I was making a career change, I knew this is what I wanted to do - to preserve Singapore’s hawker culture and bring it to the next generation. . I know a lot of Singaporeans have a personal connection with their hawkers, so when you see them next time please thank them for all they do and give them a shout-out online. For me, the hawkers I’d like to thank the most are my parents. Thank you Pa and Ma for letting me carry on your good work! . Singapore would like to nominate Hawker Culture to UNESCO’s Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage. You too can be a part of this movement by liking this post and sharing your own photo thanking your favourite hawker. We'll be so touched if it's us! Let’s show our support for #OurHawkerCulture! .
