The band's "Love Myself" campaign, in partnership with UNICEF, launched last year and is aimed towards ending violence against children and teenagers. On behalf of the group, leader, Kim Namjoon—better known as RM, delivered the unified speech about finding self-acceptance that has the Internet hooked.

With his band mates behind him, RM spoke about his own life, upbringing, struggle with self-acceptance, and the positive impact that finding community support has had on his own life and the lives of his band.

"In the intro to one of our old songs, there's a line that says my heart stopped when I was maybe nine or 10. Looking back, that is when I began to worry about what other people thought of me and started seeing myself though their eyes," he said.

"I stopped looking up at the night sky, the stars. I stopped daydreaming. Instead, I tried to jam myself into the other moulds that other people made. Soon, I began to shut out my own voice and listen to the voice of others. No one called out my name and neither did I. My heart stopped and my eyes closed shut. Like this, I—we—all lost our names," he continued.

RM also thanked the BTS Army for their endless support. He specifically spoke of the success of the "Love Myself" campaign with the fans, saying he has heard remarkable stories from "all over the world".

"I have come to love myself for who I am, for who I was, and for who I hope to become," he added.

The BTS Army quickly reacted to the speech on Twitter. Many thanked the group for sharing the message about self-confidence and self-acceptance.
