Temple committee chairman Tan Sri R Nadarajah described it as "a first of its kind in the world," reported twentytwo13. "No other temple in the world has got such a vibrant coloured stairway."
Part of the temple was being repainted and since there was extra paint, the temple committee decided to paint the stairs too, said Nadarajah. The painting was completed in two and a half days! "Batu Caves is a religious venue and also a tourist destination. We hope this effort will attract more visitors, especially the young," said temple trustee Datuk N Sivakumar.
Known as one of Malaysia's top tourist hotspots, Batu Caves is home to the tallest Lord Murugan statue in the world and is a sacred landmark for Hindu devotees. During Thaipusam celebrations each year, over 2 million Hindu devotees all over the world make their way to Batu Caves.
With stairs so beautiful, we wouldn’t mind climbing it every day! Okay, maybe not every day…
