Boss Gets Angry When Employees Don’t Reply Her 2am Text

No, it was not an emergency or urgent.

Many of us have had to embrace a new normal when it came to working from home instead of the office.

And it now being a year since the Covid-19 case was discovered in Malaysia, it’s surprising to find out that there are still bosses around the world who do not respect the boundaries of their employees.

Especially when it comes to working hours.

In a recent post on the Facebook group “Boom Go Employee”, an employee shared a screenshot of their office group chat which showed their boss texting them at 2.27am.

As it was in the middle of the night and also after working hours, it’s definitely understandable that the employees did not reply the message.

“Boss, it’s late at night, are you expecting us to reply in our dreams?” the post’s caption reads.

When the boss did not get a respond from any of the employees by 6.30am the next day, she sent an angry message to them saying, “Team, please respond. Don’t make me feel like I’m talking to the wall.”

Umm….

The employees finally replied the message at 8.30am, which of course is a much more acceptable working hour…

The message sent at 2am was apparently not an emergency or urgent message, it was something that definitely could have been asked and answered the next day.

According to the timestamp on the text, the message was sent at 2am and her 6.30am demand to answer the message came the next day - which shows that there's been one day in between. Perhaps this was a weekend and not a work day? Which explains why the employees didn't answer...

Regardless of the situation, work texts should not be sent at 2am if it's not an emergency (unless you're in a different time zone of course). Here's hoping 2021 will be the year we all respect and understand how important it is to have a healthy work-life balance.

We also hope this boss eventually learns how to respect her employees’ working hours.

Have you ever been in a situation like this? Let us know how you dealt with it!
