She tweeted about her exit in a series of tweets:
“B99 fans. Hiiiiiiiiiiii. Chelsea Peretti, here. I won’t be doing a full season of Brooklyn Nine Nine in Season 6. But that doesn’t mean I won’t ever be back, winky face emoji, heart emoji. I want to thank you for the hours you spent watching Gina be Gina,” she wrote.
Chelsea went on to say that Emmy Rossum, who recently announced her exit from Shameless, said it best and tweeted Emmy's farewell letter, complete with highlighted quotes from the original statement.
Series co-creator, Dan Goor, also took to Twitter to share some kind words about Chelsea in what felt like a true goodbye to Gina.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine fans obviously had much to say about the departure:
So, is this goodbye forever or see you later?
