Its really annoying as a member of the audience to go for a concert and have your view blocked by a thousand phones recording the show. Apparently, its really annoying for the stars as well. At least, for Bruno Mars.
During Mars’s recent show at Saitama Super Arena in Japan, a model who was lucky enough to get a spot in the front row of the show had the night of her life and left happily with a gift from Bruno himself.
Unbeknownst to her, the sweaty towel was far from a gift. Apparently, Bruno Mars had hurled the towel at her because he was exasperated that she kept using her phone to take videos, instead of just enjoying his performance.
The clips posted by the woman, which have since been taken down, show her and her friend dancing in the front row, with Bruno Mars performing behind her head. Eventually, he throws a sweaty-towel at her phone, while she was recording him. However, the girl thought it was a gift and captioned her video with “OMG!! I GOT THIS!!!”
Mars is well-known for asking his fans to put away their gadgets and enjoy his shows without any distractions. In 2014, Mars told Star Advertiser “In the old days, if you went into a show with a video camera to record it, you’d be lucky to leave with your camera. Now everybody brings their smartphones and records everything. I’d like people to come to the shows and enjoy them like they did in the old days. I don’t want people to come and then say, ‘I saw it all last night on YouTube…the show is what it’s about. It’s what I love doing, the live thing, the performance, with the audience.”
So, if you are one of the lucky few who managed to get tickets for Bruno’s sold out show here in KL, best that you don’t record it and just enjoy being in the same room as this fabulous man instead. Oh, and while you’re at it. Better not record at any concerts ever either!
