The jackfruit, more commonly known as nangka to Malaysians, has been going viral recently after a Malaysian tweeted about how an American grocery store cut jackfruits like watermelon slices! Now Buzzfeed is under fire too!
The food recipe channel, Tasty by Buzzfeed, just posted a video with the caption “you know what it is, but do you know how to cut a jackfruit?” and it’s teaching people how to cut and consume the tasty fruit!
But Malaysian netizens are not happy because the video shows them cutting the nangka right in the middle and splitting it in half, cutting the seeds in the process too.
Twitter users started commenting on the video with one replying to the video with the caption, “clearly you don’t, either” and others saying that they cringe looking at how wrong they are cutting the fruit.
Other users were actually curious as to how to actually cut the jackfruit and one user was happy enough to share the “right way”.
The video also showed how to cook the jackfruits and described it as vegan “pulled pork”.
In case if you’re wondering what’s the “right way” to cut open a jackfruit, we did some research on YouTube for you.
Do you think it’s the right way to cut nangkas in the middle like the video or do you have a better way of doing it? Share your nangka knowledge with us!
