Countries around the world are slowly opening up new business sectors and gyms are one of them.

Here in Malaysia, gyms have already opened their doors once again with social distancing measures and new Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in place.

Gyms around the world have been taking different precautions and a gym in California has introduced pods for its customers to work out in.

//INSPIRE GAINZ POD 🔰⁣ ⁣ Reopening our gym @inspiresouthbay is not an easy task. But we are prepared to increase the safety for all of our members against COVID-19 ⛔⁣ ⁣ It took us about 3 days to build our pods. We will have our sanitation and social distancing protocols in place when gyms are allowed to reopen. (no official date yet)⁣ ⁣ We will also continue to host ZOOM classes until we have a vaccination 💉 This effort is to accommodate our members who prefer to stay at home but still get a good workout if they are not ready to come back in person 😊⁣ ⁣ Our class capacity will be limited but we will get creative with our program. No matter what, we've got your back. 💯 🤓 #groupfitnessclasses #coreworkouts #hiit #igfitness #motivationalquote #TEAMINSPIRE #Inspiresouthbayfitness #hardwork #champion #redondobeach #manhattanbeach #hermosabeach #homeworkouts #correctmovements

South Bay Fitness in Redondo Beach has already introduced the usual precautions such as hand santisers, temperature checks and letting fewer people into the building.

Now, the gym is taking safety further by building special pods made out of pipes and shower curtains, that sections off the machines so every gym-goer has their own private space to workout in.

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, owner Peet Sapsin said that the gym had been forced to shut for three months.

‘It’s been really tough, we weren’t sure if we were going to be able to reopen again,’ he said to KLTA. ‘But because now that we’ve come up with this solution, it’s a lot more affordable and, now, we can reopen back up a little more safer and healthier for our clients.’

The gym is only able to operate at half its usual capacity at the moment, allowing just nine people in to use the equipment at once. In order for things to be fair to gym lovers who can’t wait to head back, the gym requires that they must book their appointments ahead of time.

From a strange idea to now being the "new norm" for group fitness. ⁣ ⁣ All we wanted to do was to provide quality service for our clients. We have the most amazing clients & we will do anything to keep them safe.⁣ ⁣ Yes this seems like a strange idea at first. But after building one prototype, we felt a bit better about our clients working out near each other. ⁣ ⁣ It's either we come up with this or we shut our business down. 🤷🏻‍♂️⁣ ⁣ Yes it's a lot of work, but our culture is so amazing that it's worth it. Helping our clients with fitness has always been our passion. Without these pods our clients may not feel comfortable to come back to exercise. It would have been devastating for all of us.⁣ ⁣ I want to thank everyone who supports us and also thank everyone who disapproves our idea on their social media platform. ⁣ ⁣ Either way, we are going to keep moving. 😊 Our focus is still to continually improve our clients' experience.⁣ #thepodworkout #redondobeach #manhattanbeach #hermosabeach #groupfitness

The gym’s staff all follow the proper safety protocols by wearing face masks and staying one meter away from the gym goers. Antibacterial wipes and hand sanitisers are also used all the time.

The staff also regularly clean everying from machine surfaces to doorknobs to countertops and vending machines. Locker rooms, showers and chinging rooms are also kept clean at all times.

However, for safety reasons, the gym has kept the saunas, steam rooms and hot tubs closed, as the heat makes them a breeding ground for bacteria.
