Sometimes, we unfortunately get stuck in a job with a toxic work environment that gets so bad that it eventually makes you quit your job.
One company’s toxic behaviour was so extreme that they decided to pay their ex-employee’s last paycheck in coins that were covered in grease!

Andreas Flaten filed his two-week notice at A OK Walker Autoworks in November 2020 after he reportedly experienced a toxic work environment.
The former employee shared that his boss was apparently so upset when Andreas decided to quit that he “froze and stared at [Andreas] for like a straight minute” after he heard the news.
Speaking to WGCL-TV, he went on to share that after breaking the news, his ex-boss, Miles Walker, “gets up, puts his hands on his head, walks out the door and disappears.”
After leaving the toxic job, Andreas was expecting to receive his final paycheck, but come January 2021, he had yet to receive the $915 (RM3,793) he was owed.

The frustrated man from Fayetteville, Georgia, USA, called the Georgia Department of Labour for help with his situation as the autoworks company continued to withhold his final pay.
It was only until the middle of March that Andreas saw his final paycheck but not in the form he was expecting.
He was about to leave his home one day when he found that his toxic ex-company had decided to dump his pay on his driveway in the form of oil or grease-covered pennies.

“This is a childish thing to do,” Andreas told Fox 13 News.
The former employee has since spent his time gathering the coins in a wheelbarrow in his garage and has spent each night attempting to clean the pennies with a solution made up of soap, vinegar and water.
“If I’ve done my math correctly, 91,515 pennies should come out to be about – at two and a half grams each – about 504 pounds,” he said.

Andreas shared that it had taken him roughly an hour and a half to clean a few hundred of the greasy coins.
“I think that’s going to be a lot of work for money I’ve already worked for,” he shared. “It’s going to be hours upon hours […] to clean this money up so that it’s even able to be spent. It’s definitely not fair at all.”

While Andreas puts all his efforts into cleaning the pennies, he has expressed his concern that the grease or oil could be harmful to the environment. He’s worried that the grease could slide down his driveway and make its way into the water of a freshwater creek that sits about 30 meters away from his home.
When asked about the manner that Andreas had been paid, his ex-boss told WGCL-TV that he couldn’t recall if he had dumped the grease-covered pennies on the former employee’s driveway.
“He got paid, that’s all that matters,” Miles said.
