As you may know, Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin announced earlier today that the Recovery Movement Control Order would be replacing the Conditional Movement Control Order on 10th June.

Under the new phase, the government will be loosening many restrictions in different sectors, but these sectors must still comply with strict Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

But there are still a few restrictions in place, and one of them is within the sporting sector.

Before you start picking up your sports equipment, it’ll be good for you to know which sports is allowed, and which isn’t.

“In the sports category, several sports and recreational activities will be reopened in compliance with the SOP,” the Prime Minister said.

“This includes team training, sports activities that do not include physical contact such as bowling, badminton, archery, shooting and more,” he said. “Outdoor group activities such as bicycle rides and motorcycle convoys are also allowed.”

According to the Prime Minister, all contact sports such as rugby, football and hockey, are still prohibited under the RMCO.

“What is still not allowed is a sports competition or games involving a group of supporters or large crowds such as in stadiums; water sports and public swimming pools; and contact sports such as rugby, wrestling, boxing, football, basketball and hockey,” he noted.

So if you’re planning a sports day out on and after 10th June, be sure you know which sports is allowed and which isn’t for now.

The RMCO will be in place from 10th June until 31st August, with a normalization phase after that until a vaccine for COVID-19 is found.

What sport will you be taking up once the CMCO ends? What sport do you miss the most?
