Not all heroes wear capes, sometimes they’re delivery drivers and one in particular, heroically saved a life when he caught a toddler who had fallen from a 12th storey balcony.

Nguyen Ngoc Manh was waiting to deliver a package to an apartment in a Hanoi high-rise building when he heard a child crying and a woman screaming above him. At the time he figured that it was probably just an emotional child who was getting scolding.
But that was not the case.
50 meters above, on a 12th storey balcony, a two-year-old girl was dangling on the edge of the balcony, much to the horror of other apartment residents and onlookers who were screaming in fear.
Without a second thought, the delivery driver leaped into action.
Ngoc Manh quickly climbed up a 6ft wall between his truck and the apartment building where the toddler was dangling from.
“Immediately I jumped out of the car, trying to climb the wall to the building next door,” he explained to
Anninhthudo. “I climbed to the roof about two metres high to find a way to support her. The corrugated iron roof is the roof of a path leading down to the parking area, so it is inclined.”
“I scaled the wall and saw that she could fall onto the metallic roof of the house used to store electric generators for the complex, so I tried to climb on top of it,” he told
VN Express International. “”I made it, but couldn’t stand firmly as the roof was crooked.”
As can be seen in the video, Ngoc Manh actually slipped when he got on the roof but miraculously, he was able to throw himself forward and still managed to catch the toddler and brace her fall.
“Lucky, the baby fell into my hand, the two of them fell down, and the metal roof was sinking,” he said. “I hurriedly hugged the baby [and] saw blood flowing from her mouth, I was very scared.”
“She looked so much like my child at home,” the father-of-two said. “I was so confused, only able to tell her… please, please, I’m here now.”

According to the delivery driver, the toddler wasn’t crying when he caught her.
After surviving the fall, the two-year-old was taken to the National Children’s Hospital where doctors found that she had dislocated her hip but had no other injuries.
Ngoc Manh sprained his arms from his heroic catch and he shared that he was not able to fully relax until he got to see his own daughter.
“Only when hugging my child in my lap did I ease my fear, my daughter is the same age as her,” he said.
The delivery driver’s social media was showered with praise for his courageous and heroic act, some were even donating money to him.
‘I don’t see myself as a hero,” Ngoc Manh sad. “I just want to do good… some have sent me money via my phone number. This disorientates me. I don’t want to receive any money I haven’t earned by myself.”

Our faith in humanity has definitely been restored by Ngoc Manh’s heroic actions.
Thank you, hero.
