Don’t be duped by shops that block the reserved parking bays in front of their lots with cones after 6.30pm.

Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) conducted enforcement operations in SS21 Damansara Uptown yesterday and told The Star that parking bays rented to business operators must be opened to the public after 6.30pm.
City Council Treasury Assistant Accountant, Zay Iskandar said the vehicle ramps placed over the bay at auto workshops also aren’t allowed to be permanent fixtures made of cement or premix. Instead, they should be removable metal ramps, and that they can only be placed over the rented parking bays leading to the shoplot between 8am to 6.30pm from Monday to Friday.

According to him also, the public often complained on lack of city council parking bays, but many of them are actually being taken up by the shopowners illegally. Some shop owners even paint red boxes over the council parking bays to show they have rented it!
Meanwhile, some other shopowners have been found guilty of painting over the yellow parking bays with black paint to deceive the public into thinking that there aren’t any parking bays available in front of the shop.

Don’t be duped by these sneaky shop owners anymore, folks! You’re allowed to remove the pole, cone or signboard and park in these red boxes after 6.30pm!
