Having your own lab to conduct science experiments is cool, but it’s okay if you don’t! We’ve compiled five experiments that are easy to do, and you can just re-use whatever you already have at home. This means you won’t have to spend on anything!

Check them out below and let us know how it goes:

If you thought that salt is just another ingredient your parents use to cook your favourite dishes—you’re wrong! You can now make your own salt crystals.

Note that you’ll have to be patient and wait for a few days for the crystal to grow. You can even paint over it if you want to colour it up a bit.

All you need:

  • Salt
  • A spoon
  • A piece of paper
  • An ice cream stick
  • Roll of thread
  • A glass
  • A jug of water

Yeah, we’ve seen all the volcano experiments before, but now it’s time for a bit of originality and using things that already exist in your home.

This experiment requires minimal effort and is inexpensive! It also acts as a little art project for you when the colours that come out of the volcano blend together on paper (or plate).

All you need:

  • Baking soda
  • Vinegar
  • Food colouring
  • Knife (be careful with this!)
  • Lemons
  • Paper/plate
