No matter where we go nowadays, it is standard practice to have our temperatures checked before entering any premise.
But despite having been informed previously, some people are still not taking their temperatures correctly.

The Ministry of Health is once again reminding the public to use their foreheads for temperature scans and not any other body parts such as their wrists.
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah recently shared that he had noticed many people using their wrists to have their temperatures scanned, however this is strongly discouraged as such results are not exactly accurate.
“The temperature reading from other body parts besides the forehead is doubtful, so in relation to that, the public is advised to stop using their hands or other body parts for temperature scans,” the director-general explained to Harian Metro.

Dr Noor Hisham stressed that the scanning of the forehead will provide the most accurate body temperature readings.
He also noted that he is aware that there is still some concern that scanning of the forehead with an infrared light will have some side effects. However, the director-general has assured the public that there have been no reports of any side effects so far.
“We do not deny that many people are worried about side effects that may occur when using the thermometer on their foreheads,” he said. “But as far as we know, there is no scientific data that states that it will cause any illness.”

So the next time you get your temperature checked, be sure to use your head and not your wrist!
Also be sure to keep practicing physical distancing, follow SOPs that have been set, wear a mask and constantly sanitise or wash your hands! Share this with your friends who always use their wrists instead of their foreheads!
