Instead of forking out loads of money and spending precious time with driving classes, driving classes are coming to you!
The Ministry of Transport has recently suggested integrating driving theory classes into schools’ curriculum.

Minister of Transport, Anthony Loke, stated that implementing these theory classes in school is more practical than having teenagers take separate classes at driving schools.
“Those who undergo driving courses have to take theory classes about road and traffic laws that last over six hours before having to sit for an exam. So, I thought of a way to make these classes applicable at school level,” he said.
The minister went on to say, “I feel this system will be more interesting for students so they wouldn’t have to spend six hours of a day in one class. After all, six hours to learn and understand all the rules and laws is less practical.”

However, if these theory classes are implemented in schools, students will still have to take the theory test at the driving centers.
At this time, it is compulsory for those who are interested in learning to drive to sit for these six-hour classes before taking the test, and then moving on to driving lessons.

The Minster of Education, Dr Maszlee Malik, has welcomed the suggestion of adding theory classes to the current curriculum and will hand over the matter to the review committee for evaluation.
“We welcome creative and innovative ideas like the one brought forward by YB Loke, the suggestion will be brought to the review committee,” he said.
Do you think driving theory classes should be implemented in schools?
