Durian season usually starts from June and lasts until September.
However, the hotter than usual weather we’ve been having resulted in a bumper crop.
According to durian farmers, this above average hot, less rain but not draught weather is perfect for durian trees.
The bumper crop that started early this month has seen durian prices down by 50%.

Musang King which were priced from RM125/kg last year are being sold at RM50 - RM65/kg
Black Thorn Grade A is being sold at RM75/kg compared to RM100/kg last year.
The Hor-Lor is now selling between RM30 - RM45 compared to the RM55 per kg last year, while the D158 is going at a mere RM28/kg compared to RM35/kg last year.
