The highly anticipated upcoming Star Wars live-action series has been given a name!
One day after revealing the name to be The Mandalorian, Lucasfilm has given fans their first look at the mysterious character in the Star Wars universe.
Although the studio hasn’t confirmed the name of this mysterious "lone gunfighter", they have announced an impressive list of directors, who’ll help bring the series to life.

Named after Boba Fett's race from the planet Mandalore, the series doesn’t appear to be centrally focused on the bounty hunter. Series creator Jon Favreau's plot description firmly sets the series in the three decades between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens. His synopsis reads:
"After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic."
Before Boba Fett was introduced, the Mandalorians were first developed by George Lucas as a fleet of super-soldiers.
The studio named five episodic directors who’ll join Jon in bringing the series to life. The lineup includes: Deborah Chow, Rick Famuyiwa, Bryce Dallas Howard and Taika Waititi.
