When a burglary or theft happens, the expected person to call the police or emergency services for help would be the victims or bystanders. But that wasn’t the case recently when the suspect of a burglary frantically called 999 for assistance instead!

According to a report by the New Straits Times, a 30-year-old man allegedly broke into a house at RPR Batu 6 in Pujut 7, Miri around 3pm and stole a mobile phone. Unfortunately, he wasn’t as stealthy as he must’ve hoped because the owner noticed him.
Upon realising the break in, the owner of the phone called out to his neighbours and a group of them chased the burglar! In frantic desperation, the burglar called the emergency services for help using the phone he just stole!

The neighbours managed to catch up with him though and then cornered him. The suspect reportedly put up quite a fight and was aggressive, but he was eventually subdued and handed over to the police.
A police spokesperson said that investigations into the case are currently underway.

What an unexpected outcome! We suppose the burglar must have panicked when he was chased by an angry mob.
Hopefully, he learns his lesson and doesn’t try to steal again in the future!
