If you’ve ever found yourself wishing that you were on another planet, then you might just want to start saving up because a house out of this world isn’t cheap.

And just how much would a property on the moon cost, you ask? Just a little over RM1.3 million a month.

A month.

Though a possibility of actually living on the moon is still some time away, experts have released the first ever lunar mortgage guide.

According to the guide, a property on the moon will cost you a whopping $325,067 (RM1.3 million) a month.

It’s probably best to bear in mind that this price doesn’t even include essential things you’d definitely need on the moon like protection against extreme weather conditions, a zero-gravity system and even meteor-proofing equipment.

Before you can start planning your house though, you’d need to get a land license, experts at Money claim.

According to the experts, one acre of land on the Moon’s most sought-after location – the “Sea of Rains”, will cost you £94.87 (RM540). A license in the “Sea of Vapours” however, will cost you £13.64 (RM77.70).

On top of that, it’s expected to around roughly £5.8 million (RM33 million) to transport all the material you’ll need to build your home.

Money goes on to list the necessities you’ll need to survive in your home on the moon. This list includes things like “air seals, industrial-strength air-con and heaters, meteor proof windows, insulation and organic sources of energy,” LADBible writes.

And these necessities don’t come cheap. The experts estimate that these necessities will cost you another £29 million (RM165 million).

If you’re keeping count, the overall cost of living on the moon would add up to £34,892,500.06 (RM198,772,978.49).

With that amount of money, we bet you’re expecting to own a mansion on the moon but, that is not the case. You’re more likely to end up with a traditional three-bedroom sized house.

The houses are expected to include living quarters, sleeping quarters, a dining room and a kitchen. On top of that, the properties may have a solar-paneled external surface, an air-sealed oxygen pod that forms part of the entrance, a water recycling room, a lunar greenhouse, a nuclear reactor and a spacesuit room.

However, once the first house on the moon is built, experts expect that the cost to transport equipment will be cut down which will allow houses to be built cheaper for roughly £29,281,781.99 (RM166,810,260.42)….

With the amount it costs to live on the moon, we doubt we’d ever be able to save up enough in this lifetime… But it wouldn’t hurt to try…

Would you get a house on the moon if you had the money to do so? Let us know!
