Can you move objects with your mind? Can you find water using a simple divining rod? Are you telepathic? If you can prove that you have superpowers, a group of scientists in Germany would love to reward you with €10,000 (RM48,613)!

The Society for the Scientific Investigation of Para-Sciences (GWUP) is a group of German physicist, biologists and psychologists who believe that people who claim to have superpowers like telekinesis, telepathy or divining abilities should not be dismissed but studied and allowed to prove their abilities in controlled laboratory conditions.

Every year, the GWUP invite candidates to the University of Würzburg, in Würzburg, Germany, to show off their superpowers and potentially win €10,000 (RM48,613). Over 60 people have been tested in the past years, but none have been able to claim the coveted prize.

Rainer Wolf, a perceptual researcher and the man who oversees the yearly tests, said "We're not here to make people look ridiculous. We just want to show that many such claims are nonsense."

Just because the claims are "nonsense" doesn't mean that the people making such claims are trying to be deceitful. Rainer and his psychologist colleagues in GWUP believe that most of the candidates do believe they have special abilities that science can't yet explain. But when it comes to the actual test, they always fail.

Rainer puts a lot of time and work into these tests, trying to make them as fair as possible and minimise luck as much as possible. For example, a candidate showed up for the testing claiming that he had mastered telekinesis and could move small objects with his mind. So, Rainer had him move a small piece of paper that was covered with a glass lid, so that wind or other air currents could not interfere. The man tried to move the paper for several hours before giving up.

So if you think you have a real superpower and you're willing to prove it, head over to GWUP's website and apply! Who knows, you could be the first person to claim that €10,000 (RM48,613)!

In the meantime, we'll be here practicing our superpower...
