Karaoke is always fun, especially when your friend or family try to sing the high notes and fail. But it was no fun for this man after his lungs collapsed…

A man from Nanchang, China recently went for a karaoke session with his friend when his lungs collapsed when he was trying to sing the high notes.

He started feeling pain and found it difficult to breathe after he sang 10 high-pitched songs straight but decided to ignore it until it got worse the next day.

He went to the hospital and the doctor explained that his lung collapsed because he was straining it too much while trying to sing in high pitch.

The 65-year-old man said that he had never had any problems singing his favourite songs in the past and that he “was very excited in the heat of the moment and after singing a few songs with very high notes” he found himself “having breathing difficulties.”

The doctor said, “the patient suffered from a lung collapse because of the high lung pressure caused by singing high notes” and that it’s common for middle-aged or older men.

“It’s better not to sing for a period of over two hours,” he explained.

So the next time you want to try singing Adele or Sam Smith’s songs, remember to sing with your stomach and not your lungs.
