Whether you’re a fan of Vocaloid or not, you’ve most likely caught at least a glimpse of Hatsune Miku.
Miku is the most popular of Crypton Future Media’s Vocaloids – a series of synthesised voices in a computer programme used to create songs.
She rose to fame as people began uploading songs created using her voice on social media, together with artwork of the teal-haired teen girl representing the voice.
Today, Miku is famous worldwide, with 80,000 fans in Malaysia alone. She has gone from just a voice on a computer to appearing in video games and commercials, and even opening concerts for stars like Pharrell Williams and Lady Gaga!
Miku has done some concerts of her own, too. This year, Crypton has partnered with Astro Holdings to bring Miku Expo 2017 to Malaysia. In addition to art exhibitions, workshops and DJ performances, the event will feature a live 3D hologram of Miku herself, performing her greatest and latest hits on stage.
Miku Expo 2017 will be held on 16 December 2017, with local superstars Zizan Razak and YouTube sensation Chaleeda Gilbert as the opening acts. Ticket sales begin on Sunday, 8 October 2017 at 10am. It’s a one-night-only event and prime seats are limited, so be ready!
