Back in 2014, Dr Wan Wardtul Amani Salim became the first Malaysian to launch a NASA satellite. However, did you know that many years before this milestone came along, she began her astronomic career by washing microscope lenses?

Through perseverance and hard work, she eventually went on to lead a team of 28 scientists, tech expert, and engineers on the first astrobiology program in the agency—and at 36 years old!
Despite her achievements, she decided to return to Malaysia to build simple machines to be contributed to the community. The machine, a sensor that comes in handy during a flood, is able to identify harmful bacteria in water samples.
“I could easily get the job in NASA, but I want to solve ‘real issues’,” she revealed.
And we’re sure Malaysia is very thankful of your move back!
