Stop! Before you throw away that packet of drink in the dustbin, we’ve got a better way for you to dispose of it and help to save the planet at the same time.

Tetra Pak® and Nestlé MILO® UHT have joined hands to benefit more communities with the CAREton Project 2019 that aims to recycle 35 million drink packs in 2019.

here’s how you can get rid of those drink packs and help save the planet!

The CAREton Project 2019 will also be collaborating with the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) and plans to collect and recycle these drink packs which will then be processed to make poly Aluminium (polyAl) panel boards and roofing tiles.

Starting off in 2012 with EPIC Homes – a local non-government organisation that facilitates the development of community-based housing solutions with Orang Asli communities; the CAREton Project has been providing enough roofing tiles and panel boards to build over 150 homes and community infrastructures.

This year, the consumer recycling campaign aims to extend its benefit to the local communities in Petaling Jaya and at the same time, raise awareness on recycling and how it benefits the environment as well as the communities around them.

All the collected drink packs will be recycled and converted into a total of 1,000 polyAl panel boards which will then be provided to MBPJ. These panel boards will be used as part of the Eco Recycling Plaza’s exterior and interior structure, as well as community rest areas and town parks in Petaling Jaya.

Did you know that Tetra Pak drink packs are made out of 75% paper, 20% plastic and 5% aluminium? That makes them 100% recyclable!

For those of you who want to take part in the CAREton Project, it’s super simple! Once you’ve finished the drink in your packets, all you gotta do is:

1. Push the straw all the way into the pack. Rinse and don’t forget to Flip-Flap-Flat your drink packs before recycling. This helps to keep away pests and odour, saves space in your bin and helps keep trucks off the road.

2. Place your flattened drink packs in a separate recycling bin, if possible, from other recyclables. This is to prevent contamination, ensure easy collection and eliminate sorting costs at collection centres.

3. Drop it off at any of the locations nearest to you under the CAREton Partners network using our Carton Finder map at www.recycle-easy.com.my. This is to make sure your used drink packs are picked up by the right people to be sent to the right recycling facility.

Currently, there are 500 CAREton collection centres that are located throughout Malaysia where you can drop off your drink pack contributions. Check out the link above to find out where your closest collection centre is!
