Instagram changed its feed from chronological order to an algorithm that shows users what it thinks we want to see, two years ago.

#Repost @bumbleandwild ··· Keep Instagram, instant! It is a massive shame to hear and see that #instagram has changed the way we all see our feeds, and the placement of our own posts. Instagram now appears to show the most popular accounts first rather then in #instant #chronological order. It is hard enough to be noticed in this large world of creativeness without set backs like this, we may now get completely missed all together. However there is hope, I wouldn't want to miss a thing and don't want you to either! If you go on your favourite accounts and click in the top right hand corner, you can select 'turn on notifications' I would really appreciate your support and being included in one of your favourite accounts. I'm about to select mine now! Thank you @shopmeggies and @delaneydesigns for the heads up! #smallbusinesses #instagramchronological #keepitthewayitwas #favourites #support #florist #keepinstagramchronological

And ever since then, users have been complaining.

And now, our shameless begging has finally paid off! Somewhat.

Instagram announced that they’re changing the feed again to “ensure the posts you see are timely”. So, no, the previous, totally chronological timeline isn’t back. But, the algorithm is being tweaked so that “newer posts are more likely to appear first in feed”

Another change Instagram is working on is a button that allows users to refresh the feed only when they want it refreshed. Instead of the app automatically refreshing.

Unfortunately, the Instagram spokesperson told BuzzFeed News that there are “no plans” to go back to the completely chronological feed. Saaaaddd!!
