Funerals are always filled with sadness and grief but this man decided that he didn’t want his to end with tears of sadness, but with laughter instead.
A video from an Irish man’s funeral recently went viral after the man that passed away decided to have his voice recording played at his funeral, pulling one last prank for his grieving family members.
His voice can be heard while his casket was being lowered into the open grave saying, “hello?” followed by banging that sounded like it came from inside the casket. “Let me out. It’s dark in here.”
Family members were shocked at first but starting laughing after they realised that it was a prank as the voice continued, “Let me out. Is that the priest I can hear? This is Shay I’m in the box” and he starts singing “hello again hello, I just called to say goodbye…”
The caption reads, “My dad’s dying wish, always the prankster, ya got them good Poppabear, and gave us all a laugh just when we needed it!! I will love you forever #shayslastlaugh”.
The wife revealed that the recording was done in one take a year before the funeral and that her son told her about it the day before his funeral. Only his closest family members were aware of the recording.
“Shay was a prankster, always thought outside the box and wanted to leave his family laughing,” she explained. “He was a larger than life character and sadly missed by anyone who knew him.”
Netizens praised the man for bringing laughter to his funeral, saying that laughter helps a lot when dealing with grief.
It’s definitely sad but heart-warming at the same time! Rest in peace, Shay.
