It Seems There Are More Men Than Women In Malaysia Now

Girls, seems like there’s some catching up to do.

We hate to say this but… seems like Beyoncé was wrong. At least in the context of Malaysia, where the male population is bigger compared to the females. The Department of Statistics have done the math and revealed that there are currently 16.7 million males and 15.7 million females. This means that for every 100 females there are 107 males!

Is this nature’s way of balancing things out? Since on average, the lifespan of men tends to be shorter compared to women. After all, Clarkson University’s evolutionary psychologist Andreas Wilke once revealed that there are more male risk-taking adrenaline junkies then female ones.

As the number of Malaysians are expected to reach 32.4 million this year, the population of working age Malaysians (ages 15 to 64) has also increased. It was 69.6% in 2017 compared to 69.7% this year, making the current median age 28.6 years. That’s the age of Taylor Swift, The Weekend and Youtube star, PewDiePie!

In terms of race, Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Uzir Mahidin a chief statistician of Malaysia states that the number of Bumiputeras has increased by 0.3%, accounting for 69.1% of the total population. On the other hand, the Chinese and Indian population have dropped by 0.2% and 0.1% respectively.

We wonder what happens if this trend was to continue?
