Every year, the New York Times publishes a list of the 52 Places To Go and this year, Malaysia has made the list, not once but twice!

The reputable list of destinations is widely seen as an “influential travel advice for globetrotters in highlighting small, often-forgotten places in the world that spurs tourism,” Malay Mail reports.

In the annual list, KL’s Chow Kit has come in as the 20th destination to visit worldwide while Sabah came in at number 28.

Coming in at number 20, NYT describes KL’s Chow Kit as “an underappreciated neighbourhood receives a does of fresh style and energy.”

The list also suggest places for tourists to visit and stay at in Chow Kit and it even offers up places to eat.

Nestled at number 28, NYT states that “Sabah’s biggest draw is the chance to see endangered orangutans in the wild.”

“Perched in the northeast corner of Borneo, and with multiple airports, the Malaysian state of Sabah offers diverse experiences while still being largely off the tourist map,” NYT writes. “Adrenaline junkies can climb Mount Kinabalu and go diving wih sharks off the Semporna coast. Beach lovers should head to Gaya Island, a short ferry ride from the capital Kota Kinabalu.”
