We always hear people saying, “it’s never too old to do what you want to do” and nobody proves that more than Choi Soon-Hwa, the 77 year old professional model from Korea!
Choi Soon-Hwa was formerly a care worker that worked 20 hours daily in a hospital and after paying off her debts using all her earnings, she decided to try out modelling after seeing a TV commercial about senior models!
Soon after, she got picked up by an agency called The Show Project and not long after that she made her catwalk debut!
She also made an appearance at the Seoul Fashion Week show last year after a designer hired her for her unique looks!
The designer, Kim Hee-jin said, “there is something very unique about Choi – she has a quality that is different from anyone else [in her generation], and I thought it goes well with the kind of originality that I strive to achieve when making clothes.”
Choi revealed that she was facing a lot of stress as a caretaker in the hospital and she was also forced to juggle between her job and being a single parent to her two children after her husband abandoned her.
“It was hard to even get myself lunch. The stress was excruciating – it was as if a volcano was about to erupt inside me,” Choi said and describing that her current job is “a miracle”.
So there you have it! It’s never too old to do what you want to do and if she can chase after her dream at 77, what’s stopping you!
