As we all know, vaccinations are currently underway and many are proudly posting their pictures of getting the Covid-19 vaccine on social media.

With more and more people set to receive their vaccines, Malaysia will soon be opening the nation’s first mega vaccination center at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (Mitec).

On Monday, 31st May, Mitec will be opening its doors as a vaccination center and is expected to see over 5,000 people vaccinated daily in its 51,000sq m of event space.

Priority will be given to some 2,600 senior citizens.

According to Mitec acting chief executive officer Mala Dorasamy, the daily total could increase by up to 8,000 individuals.

“Mitec can also cater to individuals who are physically challenged,” she shared.

“Medical and event management personnel will manage the centre to ensure proper implementation of the vaccination process.”

The acting chief executive officer also added that strict compliance to SOPs will be ensured with tight security and no walk-ins allowed.

“There will only be one entrance and exit via the south entrance and only confirmed registrations will be admitted,” she said. “Only those with appointments will be allowed in one mega station that spans across two multi-function halls.”

National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme coordinating minister Khairy Jamaluddin noted that the four current vaccine dispensing centres (PPVs) in Kuala Lumpur will be moved to bigger venues to ease overcrowding.

Those with appointments from 31st May to 6th June at the Titiwangsa Stadium and the Manjalara community hall PPVs, will be informed on the changes of venue.

He also shared that the Muhibbah Community Complex and Desa Tasik Sports Complex PPV will move to the Axiata Arena in Bukit Jalil, that will be open from 7th June.
