Although we know it isn’t right, most of us have, at some point, asked our friends to help us sign our attendance in college or university despite not actually making it to class.

Those days are over – at least for students from University Technology Petronas. As seen from a photo tweeted by a student of that university, it appears that they now have to mark their attendance by way of scanning a QR code provided by the lecturer!
As an added precaution against people who think they can ask their friends to send over a photo of the QR code to be scanned, the university made the QR code only valid for a short period of time. Meaning your attendance will not be submitted if the QR code is not scanned within the given time period.
Two other students also revealed that their university uses the QR code system and even take it one step further by using thumbprints to take attendance!
Would you be happy if this system were to be implemented in your college or university?
