Earlier in the year, Masterchef UK judge, John Torode, created massive controversy by stating that chicken rendang was supposed to be "crispy". Just, no.

Now his very own wife, Celebrity Masterchef UK winner, Lisa Faulkner, has outraged the Internet with her recipe of Hainanese Chicken Rice.

The Guardian recently published one of Lisa's recipes of her personal favourite dish: Hainanese Chicken Rice. One thing's for sure, it doesn't look like any chicken rice we've had before.

Here's what she used in the recipe:

  • Salad onions (spring onions)
  • Red chilli
  • Grated zest and juice of lime
  • Honey
  • Chicken breast fillets
  • Jasmine rice
  • Hainanese paste

According to Lisa's recipe, the salad onions, chilli, lime and honey are supposed to be mixed and made into a sauce that's drizzled over the chicken after it’s been cooked.

Um.

Obviously, Malaysians and Singaporeans weren’t feeling this at all.

This is how we'll take our Hainanese chicken rice, thank you very much.
