Two Malaysian youths are making the country proud as they have been selected to receive the Queen’s Young Leaders Award. The award is in recognition of the work that young people are doing across the Commonwealth.
The two recipients are 20-year old Siva Nagappan Visvesvaran, and 26-year-old Wen Shin Chia.
According to the Queen's Young Leader's website, at just 20-years-old, Siva has been developing solutions to current environmental problems, including inventing a Linear Water Storage system for his school that stored rainwater using less space.
Currently, Siva is juggling his studies in electrical power engineering and his work with a social enterprise called Project Paplet of which he is the founder for. The enterprise recycles scrap paper, collected from various universitites, into booklets which are then donated to orphanages and United Nations High Commission for Refugees. To date, they have recycled more than 1,000kg of scrap paper into 10,114 booklets!

Meanwhile, Wen is an environmentalist who founded an organisation called Green Yards. Her company reduces water pollution by offering free environmentally friendly soap in exchange for every 5kg of used cooking oil from households and restaurants.
Green Yards reprocesses the oil to make the environmental friendly soap! Right?! She has actually successfully prevented as much as 4.7 tonnes of used cooking oil from being dumped down kitchen drains.
Awesome work guys!!

These two superstars will be receiving their awards at a special ceremony in Buckingham Palace, London, on 26 June. Award winners will also be given opportunities to network with other young leaders, attend special workshops and even visit Facebook’s HQ in UK.
This is a great achievement for them and for the country!
