With so many professional makeup gurus in the game, here are a few with unique skills. Their job isn’t to make you look pretty, but rather, to make you look satisfyingly—for some people—creepy.

#1 Mimles

Meet Mimi Choi (@mimles), a Vancouver-based makeup artist with insane skills. We’d stare at her work and wonder if it’s Photoshop-ed or not. Yes, she’s THAT good at what she does. Check it out for yourself:

My obsession is my cure. • This is #makeup — took 6 hours to freehand. I suffer from #anxiety on top of my sleep paralysis, and painting is both therapeutic and calming to me. Sometimes the obstacles in your life are your biggest blessings in disguise. It is through my anxiety that I realize I enjoy painting little details which in turn helps me build up my patience for intricate art. My issues have all indirectly led me to the career that I have now. So don’t you give up when you’re feeling down. Utilize whatever you’re feeling to fuel you in a positive way. It’s up to you whether you let your problems drag you down further or lift you to a higher ground. • Inspired by the digital art of @stinawalfridsson

It wasn’t always about making faces look distorted for Mimi. The idea came when she started suffering from sleep paralysis and hallucinating about scary things like people with sliced faces, shadows, bug and more. Yikes!

One day, she decided to paint out what she saw. Luckily for her, once she started doing so, the freaky nightmare stopped.

#2 RJ

Here’s RJ (@cakefacerj), another spectacular optical illusion makeup artist. Her passion in makeup and love for arts has allowed her to create these amazing pieces. Believe it or not, her skills came from watching countless makeup tutorial videos on YouTube!

We don’t know about you, but when some of us try to follow makeup tutorials, it never ends well.

#3 Dain Yoon

Wanna be invisible? Dain Yoon (@designdain) would be perfect for the job.

This Korean girl uses her face as a canvas to create reality-defying illusions. She can make herself blend into any background using watercolours and her crazy artsy powers. How crazy is her work?

#4 Hikaru Cho

Meet Hikaru Cho (@hikaru_cho), an artist who hopes to inspire people to look beyond the ‘surface’. The Japan-based makeup artist also uses her body as a canvas because she can’t be bothered to look for something proper to paint on.

"People tend to judge others just by their appearances, the colour of their skin, their eyes. I think that is really stupid. So I create these pieces of work with a message to others that not all is what it seems on the surface," she said.

Some say that their work is intriguing; some say it’s disgusting. What say you? Anyone pro enough to recreate these looks for us?
