PTPTN is a National Higher Education fund providing loans to students pursuing their higher education. Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad has revealed that the amount of funds given out amounted to a huge sum of RM39 billion! This almost equals to the loss suffered by 1Malaysian Development Bhd (1MDB), which is insane!

“That’s how much money HAS NOT been paid to the Government for what it spent on you to give a good education, and therefore opportunities for a better job and income,” Tun M said during his speech at the Malaysian Student Leader’s Summit on 11 August.

Prior to GE14, Pakatan Harapan promised to postpone the repayment of these loans for those with salaries below RM4,000. Unfortunately, the government had to defer this promise until a solution is found to fulfill this pledge due to the nation’s legacy debts.
They also added that they’d abolish the travel blacklisting policy. This was fulfilled as 429,945 loan defaulters have been removed from the travel blacklist on 26 June. Of course, they would have to continue servicing their education loans.
Don’t lah like that kawan kawan… Your country needs your help. Don’t make our beloved Prime Minister disappointed.
