As we go into the new Recovery Movement Control Order phase, many Malaysians are sighing in relief to finally be able to leave the comfort of their homes – safely of course.
Many countries around the world however are still under their own lockdown measures to help fight the spread of COVID-19, and it looks like humans are not the only ones who are having trouble staying in their homes.
One panda at the Copenhagen Zoo decided to break out of his confinement because he was bored of staying in his enclosure.

A seven-year-old giant panda named Xing Er, was recently spotted on the zoo’s CCTV roaming around in the garden area after having escaped from his new panda house.
The panda then decided to take a tour of the zoo, which was closed at the time.
Speaking to AFP, zoo spokesperson Jacob Munkholm Hoeck noted that Xing Er was spotted “leaving his enclosure, slipping under an electric fence.”
The video footage showed the panda climbing up a metal pole and then navigating his way around three electrical wires before crawling out into open land.

The panda wandered around the zoo, enjoying himself, until an employee noticed it and called the security team.
“The veterinarian of the zoo anaesthetized the panda and he was brought back to the enclosure,” Jacob noted. “There he was given an antidote and woke up a couple of minutes later.”
Xing Er was not harmed during this procedure and is now safely back in the zoo’s Panda House.

Security around the panda enclosure will be “carefully examined” to “make sure [it] doesn’t happen again,” said Bengt Holst, the zoo’s chief scientist.
Xing Er lives in the Panda House with his female mate Mao Sun – who did not join him in his great escape; and are currently on load from the Chinese city of Chengdu.
Both pandas arrived in Denmark in April 2019 as part of China’s “panda diplomacy” programme that lends pandas to other countries in order to foster relationship with them.
