With the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we’re all doing our part by being responsible and staying home to help stop the spread of the virus.

While we spend our days indoors, there are those who are out there, risking their lives to help others in need during these hard times.

Who? The front liners.

All around the world, the front liners are doing all they can to help the current situation and we can only help them by staying home.

While we may not be able to do much, we surely can show these front liners all the love we have for them as they go through these demanding times.

In some countries, people at home have been taking to windows and balconies to applauding these front liners, others have been posting messages and videos on social media.

This one paramedic from Basingstoke, UK however, received a standing ovation that caused her (and us) to be overwhelmed by tears.

When Tayla Porter stepped out of her house to head to work last Thursday, she didn’t expect to greeted by her whole street of neighbours who came out to applaud her for her service.

Tayla was so overwhelmed by the love and support that she broke down in tears while she made her way to her car. She even found that someone had left a Cadbury Heroes chocolate on top of her car!

The idea for the standing ovation came after the UK collective shared their appreciation for those who work on the frontlines by clapping for them at 8pm.

Tayla’s mum, Ali reached out to her neighbours via a local forum and mentioned that her daughter would be leaving for work at 4pm and would unfortunately miss the applause.

The neighbourhood then decided to hold their own applause session especially for Tayla at 4pm instead.

The 22-year-old and her whole family were surprised by the lovely gesture.

“It was overwhelming for all of us,” Ali said. “Tayla just couldn’t believe it. She could believe that people would even notice what she’s doing. She just loves her job.”

“It carried on all the way up our street and you could hear them clapping all the way up the next street too,” she continued. “It must have been people texting people or word of mouth, because not everyone is on there.”

“It was so emotional, I could barely speak. It was just overwhelming pride.”

“It’s been so overwhelming. It’s amazing how everyone has come together. I feel like our village is closer,” Ali added. “You’ve got more time for people and appreciate them more now. It brings you closer.”

It’s definitely great to see people coming together in these hard times! Thank you to Tayla and all the frontliners around the world for all your hard work and dedication.

Be sure to do your part by helping the frontliners by staying home! Together we can #FlattenTheCurve!
